ReplyDeletethank you Marydon for that sweet tour. 50 years is so wonderful....ours will be 42. And the post on the Christmas trees was wonderful. I think I would really love to travel the world on a sleigh with reindeer as my guide and see all those trees. Loved the lesson about the "Partridge in a Pear Tree". So many of the old nursery rhymes have double meanings. Have a beautiful Sunday. We are off today to just window shop and see the Christmas displays in a sweet area of town. I have yet to really go look at Christmas decorations. Then we are going to stop for eggnog pancakes. :)

Your home and decorations are simply gorgeous! and you look mahvelous! 50 yrs quite a feat, congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWe were stationed in Kodiak from'91-'94. I left my heart there. Ysp, catching slamon by hand during the season isn't as hard as it sounds. Freezer full of salmon, dollies, halibut and venison. Wild salmonberries (silimalr to raspberries) and blueberries grew wild everywhere. Oh and the wildflowers, simply beautiful. I learned how to make honey from them It was just a step back in time. Felt like we were really "living off the land" and it felt so good. I made our bread...it would be moldy in the stores from being frozen then sitting on the shelf. The water was immaculate...so fresh, clean, clear and tasted so good! and of course always cold. Seems I made just about all our food from scratch. So laid back...where ya gonna go? 40 miles of paved roads and about that many bars ( for the fisherman when they were in port). Loved hiking through the woods, smelled so fresh, oh and the wildlife, I was in heaven, watching the Eagles fly by our windows and nest in our trees...omg, I better stop. Once you get me going....!
