( GIVEAWAY ENDS on WEDS the 4th midnight ... go to yesterday's post to enter )
They grow up to wear funny things like this on their feet!
My marathon running son ... he loves them!
Please visit Love Is @ ~
Sharing our gardens with you ... they are pretty sad this year because of the 'flip me over, I'm done on that side' heat wave for 6 weeks. Usually you cannot see the mulch, they are so full ... but we are enjoying what we have.
Tidbit ~ for bad sun burns apply liquid VIT. C & all the pink & pain will subside by night fall ... as a redhead, I speak first hand of this wonderful solution.
Ever since we've owned this home I've tried to get these gladiolas up OUT of the spot where they grow. Every year we think we've accomplished this, every year they return. This year we are digging a huge area up & hope we get them all moved.
Pretty aren't they?
I have been so excited to find tons of butterflies in our gardens this year ... sweet delicate beauty
flitting all about ...
... & mulitudes of gold finch. I so love their melodic singing.
Just another lovely spot to enjoy ...
The orange flowers were actually bulbs I dug up from my G'ma Maggie's yard over 20 years ago. She had them growing to the right of her back porch steps for as long as I can remember ... so I brought enough back to share with my daughter & sister ... fond warm memories of one beautiful woman.
These are growing in front of the new home we are buying, I think they are hibiscus. I am so excited about this new home ... dying to get in & start all the painting & new moldings, etc. Hope these tenants will be good ones ...
Little Miss Pearl's family (the deer born in our garden) has been sneaking over in the eve & enjoying our tomato plants ... they literally ate every gorgeous tomato off one plant. Then we got smart & sprayed liquid fence down (works wonders, ladies!).
The cucs are doing beautifully, we tried (2) varieties this year ... both are delicious.
This year our Argeratum (blue flower) produced over 100 volunteers in the gardens so I spent a LOT of time moving them all around to other spots. Our gardens are VERY BLUE this year.
Some of our petunias are doing well, others not so much ...
'Miss Sunny's' ladies in waiting ...
I love walking thru my gardens in the morning, just God & myself in communion ...
... to enjoy the beauty He has given me the privilege to enjoy in this world.
His promises ...
Lovely post. What beautiful gardens that you have. I recieved the bulbs Friday! I have a special spot to put them. Should I wait til the fall to plant them? Again, thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteHi Marydon,
ReplyDeleteYour garden is so lovely, just like you. Thanks for coming by my blog and leaving such a sweet comment. Thanks for asking about my son. He's doing ok.
I like your idea about adding some floral pillows to my porch cushions. Can't believe I didn't think of that! I'm going to make some and see how they look.
big ole hugs to you sweet friend.
Sissie
What a delightful garden you have. With my mother-in-law's illness and passing we have an empty garden this year. But there is always hope and I am going to plant flowers in the fall and a new vegetable garden in the Spring of 2011.
ReplyDeleteYour Love is... is quite sweet today. I should have used mine for Pink Saturday! LOL!
I have a few giveaways too so don't forget to stop by and visit me.

Good Evening Sweet Sis...
ReplyDeleteI love this post. Precious as always. Love truly is what makes things grow. I have so enjoyed my stroll tonight through the gardens. They are just exquisite. If you think yours have burnt you would think mine are extinct. There isn't much there. I was sadly to ill to plant this year. Next year for sure, and I have plans for the Fall.
Now I want you to pick one of the sunflowers for me and send it to me, so I can see if they will grow in my garden for me. That way a part of you is also in the garden sweet Sis.
I can just see Sweet Pearl and her precious Moma feasting on your tomatoes. She is probably saying, "Come on Moma, Marydon won't mind she is a very giving friend." Yep, I am sure that is what she is saying.
I see with my little eye your beautiful hand in one picture and your little sandal with the preciously painted toes in another.
I love you sweetie. I hope you and sweet Harold had a beautiful evening tonight. I wish I had been there to stroll with you. Always in heart.
Many sweet hugs and much love, Your lil Sis, Sherry
P.S. I hope you enjoy my Love Is...
Loving the shot of the cuke fingers, LOL.

Marydon! Look at all of those flowers. You have such a green thumb. Your gardens are doing well despite the heat!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's interesting about the stuff to spray to ward off deer. Does it seem that more and more deer are everywhere?
Oh,and I love your son's funny shoes! LOL!
XO,
Sheila :-)

It looks like things are growing in spite of the heat wave. Everything looks beautiful. How I love to see butterflies flit around too! The weather here has been unusually cool. We've barely had to water the lawn until this week.
ReplyDeleteI hope all is well with you and that you have a marvelous week!
Beautiful garden post, dear friend. The TX heat is wrecking havoc on our plants! Only the purslane can survive lately!
ReplyDeleteBig TX Hugs,

Marydon, I'm back. I just kept reading and didn't realize that the "feet" were the "love" part! LOL! They really are funny.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Hi Marydon, You said OUR magic words, Liquid Fence.... Without it, we would have NO ROSES --or any flowers much... The deer wander around in the yard at nights....They still nibble at times---but nothing like they would if we didn't spray the Liquid Fence. It's our miracle-worker...
ReplyDeleteYour gardens ---all of the flowers---are gorgeous... Love all of your different colors... SO pretty!!!! And of course, I enjoy seeing the goldfinches and butterflies.
Your Gladiola is beautiful. Love that color.
I'm certainly out-of-touch --since I have never seen any shoes like that!!!!! My My!!!!
Beautiful rainbow too...
Hugs,
Betsy
I took the "stroll" through your garden this Monday morning. What a great way to start the week!
ReplyDeleteYour gardens look a lot better than anything I have in my yard ~ beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow..Ms. Sunny is huge, she looks great with her hat.

Dear One, thank you for the offer of a give-away. But I have to explain. I don't join in for give-aways, because I never did one. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous garden. So many pretty blooms. I love the picture of the finches.. I just love birds. and the sunflower is sweet and charming.
ReplyDeleteBlessings~
Gwen:)
What a wonderful garden. So colorful. I can why it attracts butterflies. How I miss all the flowers. All my plants died last week after so many days above 110, they just didn't survive. Oh well, I'll plant new ones this fall and they'll look great this winter when you are having snow.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a beautiful stroll thru your beautiful garden, along with the music, I felt like I was almost there! Love the finch! It is always a comfort to come here!
ReplyDeleteThose shoes gave me a good laugh, Marydon! HA! Your gardens are so lovely. What a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteHi Marydon,

Nancy
I love seeing your garden and all its bounty! Oh to have a green thumb... Maybe I need perennials that just come up w/out my help. :-) Your son's running shoes cracked me up. I saw a similar pair on a tv show last night- Rizzoli and Isles. (spelling?) One of them was wearing a pair- little toes and all. tee hee
ReplyDeleteHope all is well on your end. I am SO behind on visiting. hugs, Sue
