ReplyDeleteThe "Love Is" cartoon brought back some vivid memories: many years ago, I interviewed Kim, the artist, and her husband Roberto for a magazine article when they were expecting their first child. I was struck by the intensity and gentleness of their love and the fascinating cultural diversity that Kim, a native of New Zealand, and Roberto, from Italy, brought to their relationship. Sadly, both died far too soon: Roberto of cancer only a few years after our interview and Kim while still a fairly young woman. I believe their son has continued the series. So their story is inspiring -- the story of an enduring love and a reminder of the importance of appreciating each moment we have with loved ones since life can be so very unpredictable.

Bad day, even for a preacher's wife. My youngest son is in a rough patch, and oh, it is so HARD, sometimes. He simultaneously breaks my heart and makes me spitting mad.
