Such a darling picture of you:-) I remember dressing up in my mom's dresses and hats as well when I was a little girl. I'd also wear her high heels and would try to walk in them which wasn't the easiest thing to do! lol Love those memories!!

ReplyDeleteoh dress ups are the best! My Aunt sent me an old ball gown and a trunk full of costume jewelry she'd found at a yard sale when I was 5! TREASURE! My sister and I started collecting old dresses and shoes not too long after that and had the best collection of dress ups for years. such good memories.

I don't dress up much these days, sometimes I wish there were more occasion where we could. Instead I just dress my dollies and I am happy with that.

ReplyDeleteMyself and the women I know wear the tiny little necklaces..so I will not enter this one. Some lucky lady is going to be thrilled to pieces with it.
I do know that as far as yard sales go, you have to go every week to find bargains..matter of luck and a good eye to find that treasure among the junk..and some of it is REAL broken, dirty junk!
Weather might account for some of the poor garage sales.

What little girl hasn't raided their mothers closet to wear her clothes? I remember it well. I especially loved her shoes. I would put on one of her nightgowns and her heels and parade around in those.

Hi Marydon, Your post sure brought back a lot of memories of the feed sack dresses to playing dress-up. Did you ever made mud cakes to go with your tea parties? ReplyDeleteI see you were from Chehalis..My mom was born in Montesano, and I have many cousins all over western WA..we lived in Elma for a year before we bought this house, we had a little teeny mobilehome..if I could pick one place on earth, aside from being near family and friends to live, it would be western WA state!
