Our cleaning lady arrived the Monday before Easter many years ago, with these (2) gorgeous antique bunnies. They are hand stitched & stand about 2' tall. The detail in the outfits & carrot is just wonderful. I
treasure them.
May your Easter be blessed & joyful ... may He hold us in the palm of His hands & forgive us our inequities.
This little Thumper is from the 1940s ... Miss Charlotte gave it to Joshua when he was a wee one.
She had received it from her aunt. We just passed it on to Joshua for his wee one to inherit one day.
This is the before ... a year go ... a soft shade of shrimp carpeting graced the floor
There is nothing like change! I swear I will NEVER be satisfied with what I have done with this house ... Looking thru the office doors that were installed recently ... we ripped out the carpeting in the front room, removed the old solid oak hardwood floors in the dining room ...
George has hand laid new hardwood floors from scratch throughout living & dining rooms to blend with the foyer & kitchen hardwoods he laid a couple years ago ...
The MESS from the 3 days each of sanding, smoothing, sanding ... ugh! ... & then 3 days of staining each new coat of finish ... so worth it!

Marydon, it looks beautiful. Don't you love the shiny floors? They look so good. I know you will enjoy them. It takes so much work to do a job like that. How sweet that you are passing the bunny down!
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteI came from Rita's blog.
You blog is absolutely beautiful.

Hardwood floors are always worth it. We lived in an older home before we moved last summer, and the only thing I miss is our gorgeous Oak floors. Years ago we had someone come in and sand them then coated them with pure urethane. They have been beautiful. Enjoy yours.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lot of work, but those floors are beautiful, Marydon. Cute bunnies! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Marydon,
ReplyDeleteI am visiting from Cindy's blog. You have a very lovely blog here. I loved your bunnies and could really relate to the new hardwood floors. We moved into this hour about twenty-five years ago and took up all the gold shag carpets (which protected the floors!). We had all the floors stained and polished. Best thing we have ever done!!!! Now they need to be done again.
Fondly,
Suz
I love those bunnies. They are so cute. Your Hubby did a great job on the floors. Send him over to our house this fall. HA! HA! We are going to take up the livingroom carpet and refinish our wood floors.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE your new hardwood floors, isn't it amazing the difference it makes to a room? I had the carpet removed from my living room and put in wood flooring before Christmas and I just love it. It's a lot of work and very messy but oh so worth it once it's all done:-) xoxo
Marydon it looks fabulous darling!! lol It really does, but I would have a hard time getting rid of old wooden flooring. I am in love with OLD anything. Ha! Did you save it for some projects in the future??
ReplyDeleteHugs~

God bless and have a glorious day sweetie!
love those bunnies Marydon and those floors look fantastic and just in time for Easter.
ReplyDeleteHi there Sweet Marydon.. :-)
ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are... this is a dream for me... I so badly want to replace our carpet with hardwoods... Heck, I'd even settle for tearing up the carpet and painting the dang subfloor. We, however, have a terror of a pooch that thinks making a racetrack out of the area between the kitchen and lving room is the best part of her day. It's going to be awhile for Bellamere Cottage.
Yours are totally delish! Didn't George do the most wonderful job. The change is amazing. I'm greeeeeen with envy. Is that a sin? :-)
Thank you for the sweet compliment... you're sooo generous.
Lovies, huggies and wishes for a wonderful and blessed Easter.
Spencer

ReplyDeleteMarydon, I wish I had hardwood floors- we are on a slab foundation and would have to float them. Maybe the next house- it has always been a dream. I'm glad that you're happy with your new floor. It is always such an inconvenience to remodel, isn't it? But the end result is always worth it!
ReplyDeleteYou must clarify something for me- your profile says you are from New Mexico. I didn't know that. I grew up in northern NM before moving to Ohio after I got married.
Wishing you a very blessed Easter! ~ Sue
Didn't you just do your kitchen! MY! And I can't even get some paint slapped on!
