~ Butlers Orchard Pumpkin Caravan ~
Many children have never been to a farm much less seen a pumpkin on the vine or been to a pumpkin patch ...
located in Germantown, MD.
This wonderful farm has all kinds of special events for people to attend.
Thousands of pumpkins scattered throughout the dotted orange fields.
They have 14 tractors like this that are a constant caravan throughout daily farm events ...
Hi, honey! Yup! Mr. Harold helping out.
These wagons are full all day long with children & adults heading to the pumpkin patch. You can feel the excitement building
as they get closer to the patch ...
They have a pet farm area for the children to enjoy. Many of these children have never seen a goat, chicken, sheep, etc. They are
hesitant but so thrilled as they feed the animals.
And, then they select that perfect pumpkin. Oh, how hard that decision. Picking one up, then another, then another ... & FINALLY a decision is made ... they have their precious
choice clutched in their hands.
School buses are lined up ... sometimes up to 50 at a time. Many are from Washington, DC. You can hear the fever as the excited children get off, heading to the tractors.
The children bring their sack lunches to eat as they enjoy the beautiful countryside. Autumn is at its peak, the hills alive with
color.
The children also enjoy the huge playground of hay stack jumping, slides, etc. Laughter & squeals fill the air.
Having gathered their pumpkins, eaten their lunches & played for several hours at the farm, they board the buses to go back to their schools.
Thank you Butler's Orchard for providing such an educational & fun filled day for these children, who might never have had this memorable day, if not for your farm.
My honey had a fun time driving tractors for you.
