The mist of an early autumn morn ...
Please join our Love Is... ladies ~
Sherry
Anne
Tete taking a break
there stood a stately southern balconied farm home
in all her grandeur ...
& a horrible fire just a few weeks ago robbed us of
her beauty ...
forever!
One of her outbuildings still remains, nestled in
the outer woods ...
as her ghostly remains stretch sadly into the sky ...
the other building is on the knoll overlooking the grounds.
A wee creek meandering through the countryside aimlessly ...
surrounded by the billowing piles of
autumn leaves ...
& the last of the greens for the season.
This farm is so beautifully groomed & stately in the fields ...
picture perfect barn of yore caressed by the cooling colors of trees.
The corn is now cut, the soybeans are awaiting harvest ...
the hills are alive with touches of fall rapidly preparing the earth for a long snooze.
Water draws me soothingly, ...
with each serene, soft ripple.
How majestic these old barns & silos are, that are left ...
rising powerfully against the heavens.
The fields now rest.
Accordingly to (who knows) ... there is one gentleman in the USA keeping these little advertisings of long ago, freshly painted ...
& it is neat that this part of my youth is recalled, still alive, tho few remain. As children we saw many of these types of ads on barns & buildings & we had a grand time looking for them on our Sunday country rides after Mass.
At first we thought it was a red painted structure ...
tho just a lovely bush turning red, so long ago abandoned.
There are so many sweet streams ...
I love the depth of each ...
the awesome reflections ...
kissed by the sun ...
the ripples of a falling stone ...
the shimmering golden shadows of the trees ...
a tree downed by the late October nor-easter snow storm ...
just missing the entire house by a hair & breath.
A kiss of color blessed by sun ...
as it peeks thru each leaf ...
our backyard show is beyond description
as the colors caress one another ...
for a spectacular presentation.
& just down the road another gorgeous pond ...
nestled gently in the earth ...
where the cattails arise ...
shadows are looming near ...
bringing such a mystery ...
as it continues to cast ...
more depth ...
to the lingering day ...
to soon be nestled ...
in a soft glow ...
giving way to the misty night.

What lessons I'm might have missed, but for precious friends in Blogland!
ReplyDeleteThese whistful images are speaking to me, admonishing (me) to just slow down and LOOK ... then look again.
The last shot of charred remains (smokestacks, maybe?) - really touched me, and for some reason, the word, "determined" jumped into my mind.
What a gift you've shared today!
Sorry to hear about that first barn..very sad... loveeeeeee all the photos... just beautiful! :):):):):):):):):):):)

ReplyDeleteI want to wish you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving, sweet friend.
You are always a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Marydon, thank you so much for taking me on such a lovely drive! I was so sadden by the loss of such a fine homested, but by the looks of the land cleared and the other buildings, this was so loved and taken care of. So many gentle hearts have been held by her, now that her work is done, the memories will never fade.
ReplyDeleteI so loved the rolling fields and shallow streams, and all the color in the leaves surrounding you. Ours are gone, and the fields are bare here, waiting for a blanket of snow.
I had the best time throwing stones into the water from the bridge!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and Harold.
Country drives are fun no matter the season. Some seasons are prettier than others.
ReplyDeleteLoved your pics. Hope you are feeling well.
Melinda
Such lovely pictures of all the scenery. I don't think I ever mentioned to you that you write so well. Your words flow with the pictures, and it's like I'm right there beside it all. Happy Thanksgiving, sweet friend.

Lovely photos Marydon. A nice ride aft Church. Just read about Target and I am also surprised at that. I did not know the Salvation Army was based in England. We give whenever we see a bucket also as they are the best charity in this area we feel. Thanks for the heads up on Target. Maybe the First Lady needs a heads up. Have a wonderful, glorious Thanksgiving. and I hope I have my puter back so I can post again. Hugs, LJ
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Sweet Sis...
ReplyDeleteOh thank you for taking me along on this beautiful Fall kissed day. It was a glorious road trip.
I loved seeing the beautiful colors, and everything preparing for the upcoming Winter. All will be sleeping soon, so this is their one last Hooray of color.
I could smell that clean air as well. No smog out there. I was tickled to still see some green grass as well. Beautiful sis. Just beautiful.
Can you believe this week is Thanksgiving? I will be missing you, as I so wanted you here for the holiday. Health first though, health first.
I hope you are feeling better today. These darn meds have really did a number on you. I continue to remember you in prayer. God is watching over you sweet Sis. I love you and miss you horribly. All my love, your lil sis, Sherry
