Crochet hook, YUP! Yarn, Yup! Yahtzee, ABSOLUTELY!! I'm READY Doc!!!
GIVEAWAY coming this weekend.
THANK YOU ALL for your sweet notes, cards & well wishes. Coming along nicely now.
As you may know I had to have both eyes cataracts removed in 6 days time. Marvelous experience & I can see well, now drive without glasses & not worry about my vision. Reading glasses in about 4 weeks.
During this same period my osteo arthritis Dr. found some other concerning medical issues. Sent to an associate who gave me a huge dose of 8,000 i.u. prescribed Vit. D3. As always with all my serious medical issues, I presented to him a copy of my medical file & had an indepth discussion, as I do with all new Drs.
Within 30 minutes of ingesting this Vit. D3 (link attached) I became very ill & continued rapidly to get worse. The Dr. was contacted. I stated I felt like I was 'having a toxic reaction to Vit. D3, & he informed me I had to continue taking this pill. Within a few days I was so sick nearly non-functioning, lost 12#, dizzy spells nearly fainting, 24/7 nausea, etc. Despite phone calls & office visits, I got much worse. Off to my allergist who took me immediately OFF this D3. I had no idea one COULD BE ALLERGIC TO A VITAMIN!!!
Then I had a horrible 5+ hour Atrial Fibrillation spurred by this vitamin. I already have congestive heart failure. I was indeed having a toxic reaction to this Vit. D3.
IF A DR. prescribes Vit. D3 to you in large doses, please read online all the ramifications of this Vit. D3 & discuss this WITH your Dr. before you ingest. It will scare the living daylights out of you & can cause horrible effects to your body.
I don't mind dying by God's choice, but not a Drs.
God protected me. Lifting ... You shall never know the heart love you bring to me. THANK YOU SO MUCH, my lovely friends.

Marydon,
ReplyDeleteThanks for this info as Joe is about to start Driscoll for low Vit. D levels. We found out that he has osteoporosis severe enogh that they put him on Foosmax immediately and he has 2 compression fractures in his back for the osteoporosis and most likely from carrying a mail sack all the time.
I hope you are feeling better soon...
Hugs,
Deb
Oh my gosh sweet lady, what a nightmare! Thank the lord you are still with us. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I will continue to keep you in my prayers and thoughts.
ReplyDeleteLove ya'

Oh my goodness you have had a time of it. So glad you got of that vitamin before things got worse. We all have to be practically as smart as doctors ourselves these days and research everything we are given. Some doctors don't need to be practicing!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness you poor dearheart! What an experience! I hope you are feeling better soon! I didn't know you could have something like this happen from a vitamin either. Kinda looking at that milk jug in a whole new light now....
ReplyDeleteMarydon, I am so sorry about your allergic reaction. I know how scary they are because I am practically allergic to everything!
ReplyDelete(((hugs))) and prayers,
Ricki Jill
sending you tons of hugs...prayers and love...
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your eye surgery! Praying for you! And wow wow wow ... I can't believe the reaction you had :(:(:( Thank God they took you off of that vitamin!! Love and hugs coming your way! :):):):):):):):):):):)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are OKAY now Marydon! Scary for sure. That happened to me several years ago with a new medication. I broke out in a rash and my face looked like a horrible sunburn. Called doctor and said keep taking it because he didn't think that was the problem. Well I quit taking it and then went in to see him and his mouth dropped open when he saw me. He called in other doctors to see how I looked because it is very rare to have this side effect. He had only seen one more case in all his years of practice. Womens intuition is amazing!! :)
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Oh dear Marydon, that is scary! I am happy that you are recovering! I agree... I am ready when God calls me, but not before:) Have a blessed day! Keep healing and feeling better!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are doing better & all ok now. Scary!
ReplyDeleteThat must have been a horrible feeling. So glad you are better. Take care,
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Vitamin D3 - I had no idea it was that vitamin you were telling me about. I am so surprised because that is supposed to be so good for all of us - the newest thing out to take for health. Whew - that is odd. I hope you are over the toxic part and are starting to mend. Love, sandie
ReplyDeleteWow, Marydon, please rest and take care! Hugs and wishes of wellness to you. ; )
ReplyDelete~Michele
My goodness Marydon, what a time you've had! Hope you're feeling better now! God bless you!
ReplyDeleteI had cataract surgery four years ago and only need readers now. What a joy to be able to see without glasses or contacts which I have worn most of my life. My meds brought on the cataracts so proved to be a blessing in disguise. Feel better soon.
Blessings,
Sandi
Oh my Marydon, this is very scary. Most vitamins are good for you, but taking ANY vitamin in mega doses can cause a reaction or cause your body to detox. Another factor to consider is that sometimes it is NOT the vitamin but the fillers that are put in the vitamins to bind them together. They can cause an allergic reaction. Take care dear friend. I hope you are feeling much better.
ReplyDeleteOh my! I am glad to read this to know if anyone else has issues to question vit D.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well with surgery. HUGS
Words escape me...I could not believe this! I am so glad you had the presence of mind to see another doctor and that ill-fated stuff was stopped! Please take care of yourself...I am sooo glad you are doing better...what, oh what would I do if my Marydon wasn't there for confort! Love to you and the Mister.
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes,
Loretta
What a scary situation! And to think the doctor wouldn't listen to you. So glad you made it through and are on the mend. Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, you take care of yourself!!!
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and saying prayers for healing.....what a scary time for you! Bless you and God keep you strong!
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Someone ought to go and smack that doctor! Mainly because he wasn't listening to you! So glad you were helped and that you're getting better. Lord, we don't want anything to happen to you, my friend.

I am thinking about you! Please continue to get better. Everyone loves you!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is terrible!! So glad you are better now. What a scary experience....they really should have listened to you.
ReplyDeleteGlad the cataract surgeries were successful too. Must be wonderful to see clearly again.
Good gracious Marydon that sounds just horrible. I hope you are over the worst now. V
ReplyDeleteOh my, what in the world does doctors mean anyway. It seems they know everything and don't know nothing..I'm glad you're ok now..Sending Prayers for Healing..Blessings, Susie
ReplyDeleteMy word, bless your heart. This is terrible. I have about decided we cannot trust our doctors or preachers much anymore. I would have stopped taking it and trust things would be okay. I am not a medicine taker. My doctor knows that and does whatever else without it. Drugs will kill you before the cause. I need to make an appointment for my eyes soon. I feel sure i need the same
ReplyDeletesurgery. Just keep putting it off.
Recover quickly and thank you for the warning.
ReplyDeleteGolly Marydon that is horrible!!! These Dr's today!!! I sometimes wonder where they get their learning and their bedside manners... Glad you are feeling better. Hugs, LJ
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you had to go through all of that even after you tried to tell that doctor something could go wrong and it did and when it did he just wouldn't listen. That is so sad. I didn't know a person could even be allergic to a vitamin because I take so many vitamins everyday so I can function. They really help me.
ReplyDeleteHugs & Prayers,
Angela
Holy crap! [pardon my French] If life doesn't get ya, the doc's and their "cures" will!? I don't take vitamins anymore. I stopped years ago. Well, except for the B-12 shots and I was able to check it on-line first. Vitamins are drugs, after all. Dang girlfriend, be careful. You're too important to lose! You gotta stick around for the beautiful grandchild. I hope you're 100% now. Offering prayers for your healing.
ReplyDeleteLuv xx
Darn, but this is scary stuff! I, too, discovered allergies "the hard way" .. but never dreamed vitamin therapy could be so dangerous. Come to think of it, I've heard more n' more about VitD in the news lately -- but its conflicting info.
ReplyDelete(Of course, it is ... sigh.)
Thank you soooo much for sharing this important message!
Hugs,
Myra
So glad you are doing better, sad you had to suffer through an allergic reaction. I'm sure the Lord had a education for some one through this....
ReplyDeleteThat is awful! Oh, Marydon, I hope you are feeling better soon. I had my two cataracts removed last Dec., two weeks in a row. I love my new eyes!!

Dear Marydon,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you made it through all that--and my mom had those 2 surgeries at the same time you did! I am sure happy that all went well...Sending love & hugs your way, my friend,
Cindy
Hi Marydon,
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I am so glad you are off that high dose of Vit. D3 and doing better.
I can say I know something about this as last year, doctor gave me 5000 units of D3 and I also had a toxic reaction. Went off right away and now I take only 1000 units which I have no reaction too. I have to be on this since I have osteoporosis, but certainly not that much.
I am also so happy for you that your eyes are better, you can see well now and improving everyday. Nothing like good vision.
Take good care and rest up and recoup. The holidays are here and you deserve to relax.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Big hugs and love, Celestina Marie
My goodness sweet friend! I have prayed so long and hard for you and Harold both! Please take care. We have to schedule our new year appts. with the eye dr. Hubby needs his other eye done and me probably both! Argh....always something with all of us. Love to you both Anne
ReplyDeleteMy sweet Marydon... OH MY GOSH! I had no idea that Vitamin D could be toxic. And this Dr. (?) ignored you when you told him it was giving you a horrible reaction? OH MY.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear you're on the mend now... Bless your heart. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that.... and happy to hear your vision is great now. I have little cataracts too, but I'm waiting to have them done.... I can see close-up like nobody's business and I really don't want to give that up! :-)
Hugs to you dear one....

Oh, Marydon! I saw your Thanksgiving post with your beautiful new grandbaby, then I hadn't visited to see this post! I am so sorry you went through all of this, but glad you stopped D3 and are ok now that you are off of it. I am glad to hear that your cataract surgery went well. I remember my Mom had to have that too, years ago. It wasn't easy. I hope now-a-days, it is easier than it was years ago. I will say a prayer for your good health, my dear! Better late than never! ;)
ReplyDeleteBest,
Gloria
