For the love of our kid-lings ...
Each year the school has the children in 3rd grade portray a famous person, prepare a speech & then the classroom is open for the family to come 'visit' these personalities. On each desk is a pretend pink button to 'push' to 'activate' the speaker. The above picture is Tatiana portraying Steve Jobs. She did a marvelous job sharing his life.
This darling child was the most vibrant & vivacious speaker. Her enthusiasm was awesome ...
It is amazing how the children create, at this age, such wonderful speeches to give with such detail of those they are portraying ...
They each nearly capture the persona of the person, & he was fabulous being Mr. Hershey ...
Of course, I had to hear Eleanor Roosevelt speak ... do you really think I'd pass up a pink hat-ter?!
Hiawatha knew each detail of her dress & life ...
I told this little chap he was on the wrong side of the war ...
Then in Ansel's 5th grade class they had to write a story, with a morale, about their family.
I almost cried openly when I heard him say 'Pa Ford ... ' Harold's father was the most precious sweet man, I adored him.
Ansel factually gave the details of how Pa & Ma travelled from OK. during the Dust Bowl, to WA St. Melt my heart ... Pa was smiling with pride, I know.
Ansel with sister Tatiana & Mother Cathelene at the tea party after the readings of each child's stories.
It just seems absolutely impossible that Ansel is 11 already ... the time has flitted by so quickly.
Cat, our dilove, bought a pool for the party.
And that infamous pinata moment they each enjoy ...
Wellll, Ansel is on his side ... hmmmmmm!
Our little princess Alyssa after the cake & ice cream.
Every year Harold does a presentation at the Darnestown Elementary School for the 5th graders on the TRUE story of the Civil War. We are so proud of the school for having him & seeing to it the children learn the facts.
This year they presented him with a delicious chocolate bar & certificate.
They have a luncheon for the classes & parents. It is an all day event for Harold.
Below is the picture of Ansel in concert playing his clarinet last month.

Hi Marydon! Great post! Love all the great photos. I was just at Facebook getting angry about all the political garbage being forced on me and the fact that so many people use such awful language! I just detest it all! It was nice to stop here and take a break and get into the place that I love best, with phamily and friends. Thanks for the share.
ReplyDeleteLove to your little ones and you! Just stopping by to say hello. sandie
ReplyDeleteOh Marydon, your comment regarding the little Union soldier just cracked me up. Personally, I keep waiting (ie,"shall rise again!")!
ReplyDeleteLove how you've captured these kiddos' interests --they're SO proud, aren't they?
PS - love how SOFT and silky your hair appears. :)
Have a wonderful new weeek!

How much fun! I know you enjoyed your kiddos' wax museum. My kids participated in a similar event at their school when each was in fifth grade. My oldest was Queen Victoria, and the youngest was Marie Laveau, Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. So they were both queens.... ;P
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your fantastic photos with us!!!
Don't the teachers come up with such interesting projects for the kids? I enjoyed looking at your family pictures. I'll bet that pool was a favorite spot this weekend.
ReplyDeleteBalisha
Those children just warm my heart. So precious...so much work goes into these projects and they must have been thrilled to have you there to enjoy it with them.

Marydon, I love this post. My g.son was Abe Lincoln, in his class production. Smiles, xo, Susie
ReplyDeletep.s. my daughters just admired the lamp you gave me. :):)
Sounds like the kids and adults had fun with the portrayals. What a great idea to get the kids to learn about famous and notable people and history too. Hope you are doing well my sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteHugs and Kisses,
Ana
Hi Marydon! Oh, what fun seeing all the little ones. God bless Harold for telling the children the true story of the Civil War. Are you a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy? My sister in law is the president of her chapter. She lives in Ellicott City, Maryland.
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in and be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
