~ The origins of the candy cane are said to start with a German choir master who handed out sugar sticks shaped like shepherd's staffs to children to keep them quiet during long surmons.
~ Candy cane originally were only white. Red stripe were addd until the turn of the 20th century.
~ Today, more than 2 billion candy canes are sold throughout November & December.
~ The biggest candy cane ever made was 36' " long.
~ Candy canes became more readily available tanks to a Catholic priest who developed an automated production machine in the 1950s.
