As we were driving down the country roads past this lovely stream
On the east side of WV which we had not travelled much of
We found such beautiful farms
I so love these beautiful barns
Remembering the stories I've heard since childhood of the the many usages & events within
The weddings, baptisms, wakes/funerals & revivals
The kids running about, frolicking in the hay, running hither, thither & yon ... squealing with delight as they play hide & seek
The horses & cows shaded
The tobacco leaves hanging to dry
The corn stored
The hay/straw strewn about
The chickens scurrying about with the little peepers
Jars stacked with caned goods on the shelves on the wall
The tractor tucked neatly in the cover
On another wall the pitch fork& hoes, rakes & scythes
The clothesline that is stretched from tree to tree
And, another hung in the barn to use during bad weather
Took this only because it says FORD :)
I so remember the fun we had vsiting these fabulous farms & barns in my youth ...
And, yet, was always glad to go back to our beautiful home in the city
Tho the memories linger
My passion for the the splendor nestled in the pastures
Of these stately beauties
Draws me at every corner of the road we pass
As we meander thru God's splendid
Beauty in the grass
Have a beautiful day

What a beautiful, beautiful post. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMarydon, That is a lot of barns and farms. You would love the barns of Pennsylvania too. I love seeing them. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteMarydon, I feel as thou I am traveling right along with you and Harold as you meander through the countryside. Isn't it fun just to take off sometimes with no particular destination in mind? I miss that with hubby in the nursing home. He is back in physical therapy finally. I have enjoyed your previous posts. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend
ReplyDeleteOh, old barns of one of my favorite things. You found so many! We do not have many around here at all. Replaced one right after the other with pole barns and metal sheds. I spent my childhood in barns. The most peaceful place in the world. Thanks for the tour of that little part of the world. I hope you get the chance to go do it again soon!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty countryside.
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't live a great
barn?
:)
You were in the Seneca Rock area! I love it there! There is so much to see all around in that area. God really blessed that area with some beautiful scenery!
ReplyDeleteHi Marydon! Thanks for taking me along on the barn touring! I just love to see them. Thanks for popping in to see me and I hope you're doing well.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
