Love Is... ~ Hazy Lazy Days of Summer ~
Remember when life was simple? ... sucking on a popscicle was the perfect touch to a hot day, a sweet cooling glass of kool-aid to quench your thirst, kick the can, hop scotch, jumping rope, the countless hours of creative imaginations as we played jacks & cut out paper dolls on the front porch, picking strawberries with our parents to make fresh strawberry shortcake & home made jam, running thru the sprinkler hose to cool off ... where did those hazy lazy days of summer go? Playing with the lady bugs & making good luck wishes ... getting the potato bugs to curl up. Climbing the cherry tree & sitting in a branch wedge, eating all the delicious cherries we could. Having yoyo contests to see who could accomplish the most fetes with one.
We love to sit on the porch during a rain storm & just recollect precious memories of life ... you know what I mean?
My favorite time in the summer was the 2 ft. x 10 ft. length of
ground in front of the garage where I planted seeds to grow
beautiful flowers, from my very early youth ... Mother & I loved to garden.
I am still gardening. Every morn as I walk thru the yard to view my pretties that are blooming, I have such a joy & peace that surrounds me ... & talk to God. This is my private time ...
Pop by to visit the other LOVE IS... ladies ~

Tucked her in here, isn't she the most lovely African Violet ever! She sits at my desk in my Mother's 'antique potty pot' which serves as a fabulous planter. Mother loved these violets, as do I.
Back to the gardens ... remember when I shared I put in at least 95 geraniums? Here is the terrace that we placed a good portion of them with impatiens tucked in between.
Enjoy your stroll with me ...
We will be home tomorrow from a fabulous 50th anniversary trip ... more of this later on.

What a beautiful flower garden you have! The Lord's beauty is worthy to behold. How can one not but come before his presence singing, making a joyful noise unto the Lord as they stroll thru your flower garden....thank you for sharing ...the flowers are beautiful

ReplyDeleteGood Morning Sis...
ReplyDeleteYep, we were just talking about the simpler times yesterday. We would eat breakfast and take off on our bikes, not to come back until dinner time. Us kids played with others all day, actually played and not inside on video games or talking on cell phones. Imagine that?
What a weekend. We played all weekend and I loved every minute of it. I already miss you sweet Sis. Hugs, hugs, and more hugs.
I so enjoyed my stroll in the garden this morning. In my mind, I can see each turn and flower bed as we walk. You have such beautiful gardens. We can sit on the porch and share a cold glass of ice tea and solve the problems of the world.
Be safe. I love you SO much. All my love, your little Sis, Sherry

I remember doing all of those things you mentioned doing during the hazy lazy days of summer when we were children:-) I would spend hours at our local playground which was up the street from where I lived and my favourite part was going to the corner store, which was next door to the playground, to buy a Popsicle and then going to sit on the swing to eat it. I just wish kids of today would realize all the fun they could be having outside instead of sitting in front of the computer playing games all day!!
ReplyDeleteAll of your flowers are so gorgeous and how I would love to stroll along with you admiring them all:-) xoxo
Hi Marydon, A belated happy Anniversary. I so enjoy the stroll with you in your flowers. I can admire all of the pretties without worrying about killing them off. I thought of my mother when I saw your African Violet. She had the green thumb. I would love to have some of the summer days back to show the kids of today how much fun they were instead of being looked at like we were from some other planet. Hope you had a wonderful trip and I will look forward to seeing your pictures. Take care and stay cool. Your Missouri friend.
ReplyDeleteWonderful summertime memories and gorgeous photos too. I hope you are having a good day today.
