As I greet the soft hush of morn, before I settle down to my warm cup of tea & english muffins slathered in butter on our upper terrace, I meander thru my gardens to see what has bloomed ... reflecting on the beauty that God has given this earth, the fresh sweet smell of the air, enjoying the birds flitting about busily as they sing their melodic songs welcoming the new day... sharing my time with God alone in peace & prayer ........
... have the delicious red strawberries ripened, more to pick?
... is there a gentle mist or dew on the florals? I met the most surprising gift of all ... my heart stopped, could it BE?
May I introduce to you our guest ..... Miss Pearl ...
Little Miss Pearl was born in our gardens. I said 'God I don't believe you have shared my favorite precious loved animal with me ... & here she is!
I will go out of my way to just sit & watch a precious deer for hours ... but she came to me, to enjoy!
I was able to get close ... 3' from her before she became nervous. I spent a lot of time talking to her about where on earth was her mother, fretted over her not having anything to eat, was it too hot for her ...
Little Miss Pearl just flashed her beautiful big eyes, intently watching me ... you can NEVER know the excitement that I felt! Not in a million years.
I kept a close eye on her all day & as the day continued on I truly was concerned. We set out a bucket of water, talking with her & checking upon her often ... it was such a beautiful scene.
Here she took her first little 'walk' thru the garden ... I think we scared her. We left her to settle down, coming back later & she went back to her nest.
I called the SPCA & they put me in touch with the Natural Resources Dept., informing me to just watch her & if she was still there in the morning they would rescue her, but usually mother will come back in the dark.
I went to bed but was so worried I couldn't sleep ... at midnight I came down & turned the terrace light on & lo & behold!! mother was just walking toward Miss Pearl's nest ... & then out of the blue Miss Pearl came BOUNDING out, jumping & running & flitting all over the entire backyard ... so excited to see her mother. I was so relieved, I had tears in my eyes that she would be okay now. For about 5 minutes she played, romped & then she stopped, went over & nursed mother. What a beautiful sight, you must know.
I was spellbound & stayed there for the entire 15 minutes before they gracefully wandered toward the side of the house & down the front lawn ...
Beautiful flowers but the fawn was the most sppecial of all.

Your flowers are so beautiful and the little fawn is so precious! I'm so glad her Mama found her! I love the early mornings in my garden, too. It is especially beautiful just as the sun is rising and everything is kind of misty.
ReplyDeleteOh Marydon how precious! God really does give us the most beautiful and free things to enjoy. I wouldn't have been able to take my eyes off her either.

Marydon:
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift to visit your yard for the day. We had a doe drop her TWO little ones to spend the day in our yard. She went to visit her girlfriends for a few hours, and then came back to retrieve them later in the day. I took lots of photos and thoroughly enjoyed "sharing" them for a little while. God is good.
xoxo

Marydon ~ Incredible!! What a special honor for you - surely a sweet blessing from the Lord especially for you.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised the doe would leave her fawn for so long but how delightful you witnessed the joy of the mother's return.
Precious memory for you...

ReplyDeleteOh My Gosh Sweet Sis...
ReplyDeleteI am so over the top thrilled to see this precious Miss Pearl. Is she not the most beautiful thing in the garden? I love it that she let you take pictures to share with us. That is the best medicine I have tasted all day. I thank you so much for sharing. Her little spots are so precious.
I wish I had been there along your side to see with my own eyes first hand too. We love sharing so many things, what a first this would have been for the both of us.
Please give Harold a hug for me, tell him I am so happy everything went fine for him and that he will be on the road to recovery now.
Now this better than sex cake. I am going to have Tony get me the ingredients at the store so I can make one this week. I will let you know about this cake this weekend.
Okay sweetie, off to take meds for the night. I so love you and miss you. I wish you lived across the street so you could just pop over and take care of me and we could sit and visit all day. I would never tire, as our conversations are so natural for us. Many hugs to you sweet one. All my love forever, Your Sis, Sherry
Hi Marydon,

All is well.
Warmly,

What an incredible visitor. I would of loved watching her and would of been worried also. I am so relieved and glad that you got to see the reunion! What a heartwarming story!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh, isn't that just those most wonderful thing to find! The little fawn is so preious!!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
I would have been thrilled as well. So many people think fawns have been abandoned, but their mother tells them to lay still and be quiet till she comes back. I'm glad you didn't disturb her and that the SPCA knew how to handle it correctly.
ReplyDeleteI live with a small herd of deer and saw the first fawn yesterday evening as her mother led her right past my window. I too was thrilled! They are beautiful creatures who live a difficult life.
That's just amazing Marydon! I am so glad Mommy came back for her. What a cool experience to behold!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy

ReplyDeleteOh Marydon, I was so afraid you were going to say she was an orphan. I was so happy to read that momma came back to get her. What a beautiful sight to see.

Two years ago, we had a mama deer leave a very tiny, new born hiding behind a pile of branches in our drive way. Deer often hide their babies to go foraging for food for themselves. Last year, there was a fawn that could not get over the neighbor's fence to join his mama in the neighbor's yard (I think sometimes they do it on purpose to get away from 'the kids' like a mommy me day kind of thing). He was young and small, but very alert and bold.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad for you that you were able to enjoy this beautiful gift from our Father.
I am always in awe of God's precious beauty, isn't that just the most incredible find in your garden!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Margaret B
