Sherry & I were in the historic Strasburg, PA vicinty. It is a beautiful old town ... on the weekends it is alive with the Amish & Mennonites. Enjoy an ice cream, sitting on the city corner benches & watching the world go by ...
one awesome sight to take in. These buggies are full of children, little boys w/straw hats on their wee heads, little girls w/bonnets ... peering out to the world.
A babbling brook along the way ... so soothing & serene.
Another beautiful PA barn ... you know how I love barns.
The other half of the above barn setting.
This fella was the one Sherry wrote of who was at the store that she 'thanked' for the picture ... he moved his buggy over behind the chiropractors office.
Magical music as these breathtaking horses go clippity clop down the road, heads held high in pride, stepping high, tail flying into the air ... as they trot down.
Harold & I were told that when they are ready to hitch a horse ... this sauntering, grazing horse perks up like lightening when they call his name, to harness.
A gentle man along side the road ...
Aren't they just the most beautiful creature that God created ... I love horses.
Prancing merrily along the way ...
Two darling children on their scooter bikes ...
These young ladies were doing lawn maintenance in the front of a business ... we wondered if it was an Amish or Mennonite company. Such simplicity. It was kind of nice to see fully clothed young ladies ...
Sherry will be back with more trip posts soon, & I will continue to follow her with photos, so stay in touch with us ...
** Please lift Ashley in prayer for her medical condition. She is very precious to us, we ask for healing.

*** Sherry is doing better & the pneumonia is breaking up. Continue to remember her in your prayers ... she was really very, very sick.
** I am digging in the dirt today. Have over 500 plants (yup!) to still get into the ground & it is cool so I am taking advantage of it.
I am digging in the dirt today, too, but no way am I planting 500 plants!
ReplyDeleteOh where do I start Marydon....I stopped over at Sherry's & saw she was ill. Prayers to her & all!
ReplyDeleteSeeing your pics I remember when I was young going to Lancaster & surrounding areas & seeing the tranquility of the Amish & Mennonite homes. They have the right idea.....Live within your means & faith & family.
Leave the outside world alone. It is a rat race out here & I fear the rats are winning!
We had gentle rain last night & all smells so wonderful this morning! My lilacs are full open & there is an old lilac right next to the sunroom where I am typing this....Mmmmmmm...smells wonderful!!
Great Post....Love Ya'!
By the way..... I am not going to do too much reading for the next couple of weeks due to the travel to this radiation place. I will get into the book soon!!
Happy Monday!
Marilyn
I have been to Amish country in Ohio, and love to see the barns and horses. We went to an Auction once, and that was interesting. Thanks for the sweet pictures. I've planted some flowers and a few veggies already. Spring really is such a wonderful time of year to be outdoors. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYou were mere minutes from our home. Glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI've been keeping up with Sherry's blog. I was glad to see she is resting. I stayed home all weekend to try to avoid pneumonia...only time will tell if it worked. I am still coughing and coughing.
You have a ton of plants to put in. Wow! Have fun with that.

PA looks like the northwest except for the whole not being the northwest thing. I am hoping that by today Sherry is doing much better!
ReplyDeleteHi Marydon...What an interesting post. I enjoyed it very much!
ReplyDeleteI am happy that Sherry is getting better..but it sounds like she has a way to go. Poor baby...I know everyone is praying for her recovery.
I'm glad you liked my little flower wagon...it has been in the family for years. The poor thing is on it's last leg I'm afraid.
I love gardening...but 500 plants! Wow..now that is a lot of planting. You must show us pictures of your flower cart like mine and your before and after planting...and during.. :)
Love,
