**(This is a note from a very dear friend of mine in TN.
Please read & help if you can ... our brothers & sisters
need us. Photos on the links show such horrible devastation)

My dear sweet friend,
Many of you know and most of you don't know that
Nashville was hit hard last weekend with up to 20" of
rain. It resulted in terrible flooding not just here but state
wide. We have been declared a disaster area however we
didn't make the news in most places and that is a puzzle
to us. Thousands of families lost everything. Not many
people have flood insurance because we don't flood here.
The last time we had anything was in "75 and 79 and that
was mostly out by the river where Opryland
Hotel is today. Then it was the Opryland theme park.
I thought it was very interesting that the national news
didn't cover this at all. We didn't have any service so I am
going on what others have said. It is so tragic.
Salvation Army and Red Cross are the two major
groups that are taking donations. There is a christian school
alled Lighthouse Christian that really suffered .
Thank you for passing along the information. All of our help
so far has come from our fellow citizens and they have been
awesome. I feel so bad that I only have one arm to give but I
will go to a friends tomorrow who was wiped
out and do what I can.
Thank you Marydon, you are always there wanting to help
and make a difference.
Love Ann

**(excerpt) Lighthouse Christian School on Blue Hole Road in
Antioch lost 8 of 18 buildings.
My son’s school was badly damaged in this weekend’s flood.
You may have seen a building floating down the 24. That was
from his school. See the footage on Utube by clicking on the link below.
IF you wish to help ~ website.
So touching. And she's right, the national news really did not cover this. Thanks for sharing the links.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Maryann! Why is it the news covers what is not necessary such as so and so who split up, but not this? Crazy! Prayers going up for them!!!!

For more info on this devastating flood go to my blog posts from yesterday and the day before. Check my comments, too. There are some ladies from that area who commented about the problems they've had. Sara Norris lost her business.
ReplyDeleteHi Marydon, Thank you for sharing the letter from your friend. I did not see anything about this on the news either. It is times like this we need to band together through pray and help.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to all in need and thank you for sharing the links.
Also thank you for your kind comment and entering my Spring giveaway.
Talk to you soon and prayers for Sherry on going.
Hugs, Celestina Marie
It actually made the national news here and my husband is from Nashville! I am so sorry and with the floods here in September, there is no work like flood work. Our major helpers were from a local Church volunteering their time. I pray for all of you to have strength to look further down the road when life will get back to normal! Hugs, love and prayers!
ReplyDeleteSo sad......the devistation! My prayers to all who lost !
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day!!

They most certainly need more than our prayers...they need our physical support...from those who are able to give it.

Hi thank you for stopping by today. Tenn, Miss, so many needs. We will help where we can. God bless! Sharon
ReplyDeleteHappy Mothers Day to you also!!!
Thanks for sharing your friend's letter. We heard about the flooding, but not much about what we could do to help. Prayers are going up for those who have lost so much. But are prayers enough?
ReplyDeleteOh how terrible. I have been reading about all the destruction there. How great of you to spread the word. We offered prayers for all those folks at our last prayer group. Happy Mother's Day dear Marydon.

ReplyDeleteSuch a sad thing to happen and devastating to all involved. I can not even imagine the loss and devastation that everyone is going through. I am so sorry and of course prayer for Tn.
Why was it not in the news is a question that needs to be put out there to our press.
Thanks honey for your sweet words of encourgement yesterday.
Many blessings your way for a very Happy Mothers Day

Maggie
