This was done by a teenager!
"There is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy. 25 in rural Iowa. For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing its character many times. A few months back, the rock received its latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed.
It's quite an impressive sight. Be sure to scroll down and check out the multiple photos.(all angles) of the rock.
I thought the flag was draped over the rock, but it's not. It's actually painted on the rock too."

I am still over here trying to fathom all the talent that went into that rock, and the thoughts behind it of such a young person!! Absolutely amazing!! And I am so happy to hear that people are leaving it be and not destroying its beauty! I guess it goes to show that there is still respect for our country after all, even when we at times doubt that.
ReplyDeleteMarydon, thanks so much for all your encouraging comments on my blog posts of late. They sure meant a lot!! hugs, Debby
p.s. LOVE your mom's sampler, We have one in the family passed down from a great-great-aunt, it is simple but we all treasure it. I think my sister has it hanging in her livingroom now, (it had to go to one of us, and since she is the needlework in that sense, she got it!). I have 2 lovely needlepoint pictures from my mother!
I love this!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing it...

Oh Marydon seetie,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post. Oh my gosh I would have to say Bubba ROCKS totally. If this doesn't get him a scholarship money for college, I give up on them. He should have an art scholarship for sure. What a beautiful gift of love. I believe there should be a permanent plague put up there that recognizes this wonderful young man for the beautiful art that his heart inspired him to create and share with each and all that pass there. How very beautiful it is. Thank you Bubba.
Country hugs sweetie. I love you and am counting days until we are together. How much fun we are going to have. MD look out. All my love, Sherry/Cherry Jelly
This is awesome. What a talented young man to be able to paint like that. And what a wonderful message. Thrilled to know people are leaving it alone.

ReplyDeleteAwesome.
How great is this post. So happy you were able to share this with us. One of a kind for sure and the young man that took the time to show his love for our country.
ReplyDeleteMarydon I was wanting to ask you about being one of my guest on my new project I have going on my site. You know me always trying something....

Hi Marydon, I'm always so glad to see when you have come by. This rock art work is amazing. I like the analogy of it being "on the Rock" of Jesus.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Debra
It seems Bubba is no longer a teenager. This has been his annual project for 9 years. A young man like this renews hope for the upcoming generation.
