This is the month of HEARTS & LOVE! Be kind, love your HEART & yourself ... learn the signs/symptoms of heart disease. Heart attacks/disease for women are different in many ways than symptoms for men.
I am everso grateful to a nurse practitioner, Gail C. who listened & referred me a cardiac nurse practitioner, Sue W. who REALLY listened to me. Sue referred me to a private practice, Dr. Alan S., a wonderful brilliant cardiac surgeon that literally SAVED MY LIFE ... Thank you Dr. Alan, my heart & I love you dearly.
I can't believe no one wanted to help until you found the nurse practitioner. I don't get that. Glad you found a good listener Marydon.
ReplyDeleteGood on you for being stubborn, and proactive.
ReplyDeleteI have read that women tend to dismiss symptoms. And many, many women still don't know that the symptoms are different for us rather than the classic ones for men.
Be aware, and be educated.
Jen
Your post is so cute How did you make it light up red when I moved my mouse? We are in a hunker down lol. Hope you are feeling good.
ReplyDeleteWarm hugs, Patsy
I am thankful you found someone who would listen. This is a huge struggle for many!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, andrea
Thanks for posting this Marydon. February is heart month. It is frustating trying to tell a doctor something that you already knew. Glad you are caring for yourself.
ReplyDeleteGood job on keeping at it until you were heard. We know our bodies, don't we. Great post my friend!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are so persistant Marydon... I question everyone too! Thank goodness you are ok now!!! xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteI have often heard that more women die from heart disease because Doctors just ignore women's symptoms. All the research done concerning heart attacks and heart disease has been done on men. Take care dear friend.
ReplyDeleteKUDOS for sticking to your guns...sometimes we just know, don't we?
ReplyDeleteHi Marydon,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad someone listened to you. We know our bodies best, Drs. should listen to us. I know well about heart disease, my Dad had tripple by pass and a pace maker put in. Heart disease runs in my family.
I hope you are well now!.
Take care and enjoy your day,
Elizabeth
We must MAKE THEM LISTEN! I changed Docs and Dentists because they would NOT listen to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are here...

I see God in this....! Generational curses can be broken..
ReplyDeleteunfortunately Doctors don't listen to women...especially women over 40...
ReplyDeleteDear Marydon,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this helpful reminder!
Thanks also for visiting my blog and your sweet comment - I'm glad to know another Fan of Winter - woo hoo!! :) Enjoy your snowstorms as I'm enjoying ours, though ours are pale by comparison - who would think that Illinois would have less than other parts of the country, but it's true. Thankfully we've had a fair share though and I'm hoping tonight's storm is a goodie. :)
Blessings always,
Linda

in 2003, just days after my 50th birthday, I had a heart attack. 100& blocked artery. I had been having symptoms for a few weeks and was sent home from the ER three times. I finally went back and refused to leave until someone tested my heart...it was too late though as the damage had already been done, this being a few days later. Listen to your heart and your intuition...it's always right. Thank God you found your surgeon...Glad you are here to tell the world!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, this is a very special post.
ReplyDeleteHi Marydon,I was really shocked when I read your heart post I cannot believe that so may people ignored you this is just not right. I too would like to thank the surgeo who listened to you we should all be as persistant. Take Care

I totally agree, you have to be your own health advocate...if you don't stand up for yourself and make the doctors listen, nobody else will! I'm so glad you got the help and attention you needed!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Marydon!
:) T
Your persistence paid off. Thank God it worked out.
