As a child my husband's family would go 'home' to Oklahoma in the summer ... they would work the cotton fields with their families. Harold recalls how they dragged those long old bags 'that never seemed to fill up' in that heat of the day. It was back breaking work & he wasn't used to it.
When we took Pa back to his home place the year that he passed over, he & Harold went out into a local cotton field & picked tufts of cotton to bring back to our Joshua, as a memory keepsake of the Oklahoma fields of cotton.
As you know I love to just drive up & down the countryside of any 'place' to capture the beauty of the countryside ...
The simplest structure ...
The ponds & creeks ...
The awesome homes tucked here & there upon this beautiful land ...
What a lovely country trip you took us on today. Sherry posted that you were resting and I am hoping in not much pain.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother used to pick cotton and the tales she told of sore hands and fingers.
I am so glad you got to go back and visit the cotton fields of home.
Hugs- Tete

Good Morning Sweet Sister of mine...
ReplyDeleteI pray you rested well last night. I stormed the heavens with prayers for you. I know the day after any surgery is always the most painful. Don't over do. Rest, rest, and rest some more.
Love this post. Yes, I love the cotton fields. They are so absolutely beautiful to see. Such an awesome site. I think of the many, many years back in Oklahoma and seeing the pickers as they went row by row to pick. It is an awesome site for sure.
Thank you as always for sharing a little of your trip. I so enjoy seeing it through your eyes.
Many hugs sweet sis, and SO much love, Your Lil Sis, Sherry
