Just down the road from us is Frank's old
farmette ...
It is just beautiful ...
We so love driving by in the spring & fall ...
Frank got married here several years ago
& it was spectacular ... we had a lovely
time at his wedding.
Such a romantic peaceful setting ...
Now off to parts of PA we've not been before ...
Oops! I see I got some of the pictures out of
sequence ... so you will be seeing both MD & PA.
Sorry! It dosn't change the beauty of the trip.
Every year when the leaves fall, we hit
the road ...
The air is crisp, the skies are blue ...
Colors surround us, birds are chirping,
squirrels are scurrying everywhere ...
Brooks are babbling ...
The buffalo are roaming ... yes, they are
really buffalo, look at those wee ones,
aren't they darling ...
It looks so funny to see a TV antenna atop this old home nestled deep in brush ...
Makes me wonder the history behind these
these walls ... if they could only talk!
Often we ask in the autumn, why do the farmers always leave one row of corn stalks to sway in the wind.
Anyone out there know?
It seems every farmer does this ... so pretty each stand gently kissed by the breezes ...

A fancy car always turn my head.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary,
ReplyDeleteI am actually feeling good, this is the time when I normally remember when Andrew was alive. Writing the book helped me moved on, and now joining the Readers' digest gives me some interest.

ReplyDeletehow fun to hop into that cool car for a ride around the countryside. Very interesting about the row of corn stalks....gotta be a traditional story there. I bet someone will know. My Iowa Family are all corn farmers...I'll have to ask my cousin. I'll let you know!

ReplyDeleteMarydon the pictures are so gorgeous. We don't see the change of seasons here, so I enjoy seeing how the colors change in other parts of our beautiful country. Congrats to the winner :-)

ReplyDeleteMe...Me (wavin' hand frantically)...I can answer your question.
ReplyDeleteHere on the Ponderosa we always leave several rows of crop for the wild~life to munch on durin' the long winter. Everything from deer, coon and quail love the buffet.
The bears love our liquid feeders we put out for the wild~eyed cattle. It's a a molasses base.
What can I say...It's a real zoo 'round here. Heeeehehhee!!!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winner. I love the photos especially the buffalo and the old house. I am crazy over old things from the past, as everyone already knows. We use to have one of those old antennas and it was high up in the tree. Had to climb the tree to turn it..
ReplyDeleteSo why do they? Did anyone tell?
ReplyDeleteJen @ Muddy Boot Dreams
Beautiful, beautiful images!
ReplyDeleteOh, my dear Marydon.... I've had you on my mind for days and days.... :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious trip! I LOVE Autumn... didn't used to be my favorite season, but I do believe that is changing. Isn't everything so fresh and crisp this time of year? What beautiful scenery you have in the east... one of these days I WILL be on a flight back to see you...
We had a great time in Long Beach.... It was so good to just get away a little bit. I plastered my fanny to a chair and didn't move too much. It's truly the only time I really rest. It seems like getting away puts me in that mode. At home I'm always going a mile a minute, at least in my mind. :-)
Tell Harold we said hello too...
Huggies dear one!

Oh Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteI love this post. I am in the car riding with you. I remember going to Franks and it looks so pretty today in these photos. How breathtaking it truly is in person.
I remember you stopping and me practically breaking my neck to climb up that hillside to get photos of those precious buffalo. Oh the little ones are SO precious. Love it. I felt as though I was right there riding along with you and Harold. What fun we had.
Now about that corn. Well I do know that some farmers leave that row or several along the road to catch the snow. It helps keep it from blowing into the roads during the winter. In fact I believe, some states, some farmers are actually paid to leave those stalks there for that very purpose.
Thank you for sharing sweet Sis. As always a beautiful post, and I can't wait to see Part 2. Many hugs and SO much love. Your Lil Sis, Sherry
P.S. Congrats to the winners. Oh Parsley you lucky ducky. I so want to read this book.
Hi Marydon, I am enjoying your trip with you looking at all of the beautiful scenery. I hope all is well with you all. Take care. Your Missouri Friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming by and for your kind words. Your pictures remind me of Wyoming farms and ranches. HPS!
