NEVER try a new recipe (for any special event you are having) without doing a trial RUN first. (Did you notice all the pink cooking utensils ... of course you did!)
I prepare tons of food to take to the Antietam Illumination (tomorrow) ... I couldn't find my NORMAL recipe for oatmeal cookies so I got out the old Betty Crocker cookbook ... well, these mixed well, looked good on the baking sheet ... BUT they came out like a lace cookie rather than a soft chewy cookie ... SOOO this double batch of cookies, nearly 100, went to work with DH.
Bless your heart, frustrating having to do something twice. Bet they tasted good even if they didn't look perfect! Have a great weekend...joy c. at grannymountain

Oh sweet Marydon.
ReplyDeleteWow that is a lot of cookies going off to work with Harold ;0)
I hope you got to bed eventually last night, that is a lot of cooking. I love how my moms oven heats the whole room up during the holidays and makes it all toasty when she's cooking. She doesn't like it because it gets really warm lol but its a nice treat during the cold days.
I hope you and Harold have a great warm weekend.
Hugs

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... Pink cooking utensils! How cute!!!!!!!

I love the note they left you. I'm surprised it did not say "Please refill!"
ReplyDeleteLast time I used that recipe, I forgot the baking powder. Little rocks came out of the oven in the same ball shape they went in. Only very hard.
ReplyDeleteOoohhh Marydon .... of course I noticed the pink cooking utensils !! It doesn't EvEn bother me to have dirty dishes, with all my pink laying around !! It's such a happy color !! Those cookies look devine to me !! I prefer the lacey, crispy cookies .. they seem lighter too .. There isn't a cookie I would turn away tho ... hahaha ... happy baking days to you ~

Hi Marydon, well,, they looked good to me! And it certainly looks like everyone at your hubbys work loved them! I did notice your pink utensils, so cute! You are so very sweet to be doing that tomorrow night! Love to you... Bisous... Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteSince I'm still on Weight Watchers I couldn't have tasted either one. Well, maybe ONE!
ReplyDeleteI bet they were scrumptious anyway!
Love to you girly!

I think hubby's co-workers would consider this a "Happy Mistake".
ReplyDeleteI think doubling and tripling a recipe somehow changes it. I have done this with some of my tried and true recipes and for some reason it does not turn out the same.
Back to the drawing board.
Hugs, Sue
I bet hubby's coworkers are hoping for more "ho ho's"!! So fruistrating having to do things twice...but hey, makes for a great blog post!! LOL Gotta keep positive!

There is no such thing as a cookie that turned out bad in my book. They look good...I guess I need a cookie fix. Have a good one!

I'm glad I've found you again. Thank you so much for giving me your blog address so I can re-connect.
ReplyDeleteNew recipes? My family cringes if I even mention that I'm going to try one....LOL
I'm sure your DH co-workers didn't mind at all!
ReplyDeleteWell I've never met an oatmeal cookie that I didn't like, so I bet they were yummy! Your husband probably hopes you make lots more batches that you don't like!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Carol
Thaks for the heads-up!! They sure look yummy!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
Warmly,
Deb :)
I think they must have turned out pretty well based on how happy they made your husband's coworkers! Have a good weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Marydon! I had to smile when I read your post....I too have sent many a cookie with my husband to his work when they just didn't work out the way they should have...I also sent a cake that while baking fell in the center and looked like a crater! I filled it in with frosting so it didn't look so bad...someone at his job got more frosting than cake that day!! : ).....Have a nice weekend! Hugs, Jennifer
ReplyDeleteHere's betting DH's work mates loved your lace cookies. I've had that happen to me with cookies before, but remember God never makes mistakes...
