The wee candles Mother nestled in angels hair in her centerpiece on a round table in the front room. The little Santa had a back pack full of lollipops that were the best ever.
Our Christmas' would not be the same if these precious treasures were not shared with our kid-lings to hear the stories about each one, & my memories.
The rest of the year the boots are on display in Joshua's blue bedroom ...

Oh Sweet Sis...
ReplyDeleteI love these boots, and I can hear the squeals of delight and the laughter as you each go through the little boots looking for the treasures of love from Santa Claus. Oh what fun. And I hope there is a cherry sucker in that Santa's pack for me, I have been a very good girl this year.
Oh the table looks so beautiful, and I especially love that gorgeous pink candle stick holder. It is definitely you sweet "SIS". Definitely.
Thank you for the memories and the beautiful share this evening. I so love it when you tell stories. I could listen forever and never tire.

ReplyDeleteI have a Santa with the pouch on his back that was my Mothers. I have it on my kitchen table with Candy Canes in the bag. I'm featuring him on Linda at AlaCarte's Junkin Finds Friday along with another Christmas Quilt that is the Grandmothers Flower Garden Pattern.

ReplyDeleteOh how sweet! I have some of the same pretties as you have:) I have that red and white tree, the little girl candle and the santa with the backpack! Some of my favorite decorations are the old ones with the memories:) Have a blessed day dear Marydon! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful memory. My Mom would always fix a paper bag with nuts, fruit, and candy and give it to me, and later to My Hubby and the Kids every Christmas Eve. When she was little she and her siblings had to live in an orphanage for awhile during the depression and that is all they would have for Christmas. I still continue to this day doing it for Us,Our Kids, and Grandkids.

Dear Marydon,
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet memories of childhood and Christmas past. Those filled raspberry candies bring back a special memory for me...My dad was the one who especially loved them and I can still see him enjoying the candy on Christmas morning!

ReplyDeleteDarling Santa boots and what great memories they have.
You are way ahead of the Christmas activities! I'm working on my cards and have some baking to do and the shopping!
Now you can "enjoy" the Christmas season!
Warmly,

What a pretty display! I have a boot, too. Sure wish I had some of those raspberry candies, a favorite.

To me that is what the holidays are-memories. My husband has a Santa like that and his is on snowshoes. I love hearing about your memories. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI love using old collections to display at Christmas...unfortunately I have nothing from my childhood but,I do have have things that are from my children's childhood. I love your collection,it is so very nostalgic...blessings,Shelley
ReplyDeleteNice you share your treasures with us too!
ReplyDeleteSurrounding yourself with family keepsakes make the decorations so much more special, don't they?! So much better than store bought things. My most favorite ornaments are those that belonged to my grandparents. It wouldn't be Christmas without them!
ReplyDeleteI recognize all these memory treasures... I too have several of those boots(LOVE THEM) and mine don't get put away with the season either!!! TOO PRECIOUS!!! I am your newest FOLLOWER... I'm hoping you will FOLLOW ME too, I would LOVE THAT!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you, Donna

How pretty. I remember angel hair. Don't see that anymore. Such great memories.
ReplyDeleteRaspberry candies! Oh how I remember digging through the Christmas mix for my favorites as a kid!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I will just talking about the memories of decorations years gone by. Things were so much simpler and easier....my mom had the same ornaments for 40 years...the only things that got replaced were some lights....
ReplyDeleteI just love reading your blog!! I love this story and I too am a huge fan of the now-vintage decorations.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad, who is 85, recalls his early Christmases in Chicago, the son of German/Polish Immigrants, and how Christmas morning, they would wake to find a large bowl filled with fruit and candies. That was their gift from Santa.
I love that memory of yours. The boots are darling. ♥O

HI Marydon glad to hear that I am not the only one that thinks that sometime the holidays can be bit much with all the fuss of where to put everyone as the family grows. I love your childhood memories of your mom putting candy and nuts into the boot. I love to listen to my 77 year old mom tell me her Christmas stories. Have a wonderful evening and I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving! big hugs
