Our Joshua so loved my raking up the leaves & then he would jump in, rustle them all around, come up for air & giggle 'do it again, Mini!'
This event would go on for a very long time ... sometimes the dogs would join in on the fun, jumping all around as Joshua would call to them, giggling as they romped with him.
Love the crunchy, rustling sounds ...
Then it would be time for Poppy to do the 'burn', so Joshua would get his little rake & help gather the leaves up to put on the fire. That warm aroma of the 'burn' lingering in the crisp fall air ... Occasionally, we would roast a marshmallow over the open fire, which delighted Joshua to no end.
Oh, those darling giggles of glee still echo in our minds & hearts, as
we recall these precious moments.
Then we'd come in & have fresh baked cookies & hot chocolate to warm
his wee chilled hands, snuggle in the air & read his books ...
Recently Joshua brought up his memories of these fun moments ... I was so surprised at how early he captured memories. When he said he 'recalled & enjoyed these moments' we 3 had together, it brought tears to my eyes & my heart was so filled with love ... how sweet our lives are ... treasured times for he, & us, to share with his children one day.
Love you Joshua. How blessed we are ...

ReplyDeleteHope you are healing up well and that you have a very happy Monday!
It isn't extravagant gifts or bunches of money, it is the simplest things that they remember:) Shouldn't we learn from that what is really important and create more simple times together? YES we should! Thanks for this post! Love you! Have a blessed day! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteHey Marydon, I love your pics. Fall is such a beautiful time of year. I remember raking leaves in a pile and jumping from a tree limb right in the middle of the pile! Have a glorious week and enjoy your Fall.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Sweet Sis...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful share this morning. I so adore the photos of Josh as a wee one. What laughter and smiles are seen in these photos. Aren't memories just the best? The nicest part is we can pull them from the book shelf and go to that place anytime we want. Nobody can take the memories from us.
I loved todays share. I am a little late posting, but got'ter done.
Love you sweet Sis. Hope you have a beautiful blessed day. Many hugs and SO much love, You Lil Sis, Sherry

Such wonderful, precious memories shared. :)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing for me though is that the smell of burning leaves bring on severe migraines, so I have to limit my exposure to that scent, much as I think it's pretty.
November and December are huge birthday months at our house - basically almost the entire family has birthdays during these 2 months. :)
Hope you have a blessed week,
Linda
I Love when kids have fun in the leaves. Now they'll grown and we moved to a house that have no leaves. I don't miss raking and dragging to our curbs.(the town picked them up). Now, we got an inground pool to worry about. I love it anyway.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week.
Nancy

ReplyDeleteThis weekend I will be raking up the leaves and composting them. Hopefully the Grandkids will come over and help out. I love raking them myself and than later coming in to a hot cup of cocoa. Will do that to with the Grandkids.

What a beautiful post! It brought a tear to my eye, as it brought back memories of jumping in the pile of leaves my mother had been raking ... over and over and over when I was little. I miss the smell of burning leaves in fall. Leaving them at the curb just isn't the same, is it?
ReplyDeletethat is such a sweet story, boys will be boys and my two boys are growing up quickly.
ReplyDeleteOh isn't it fun to jump in the leaves and scatter them good when you are a kid? Looks like you hae some really good memories!
ReplyDeleteHi Marydon. Fall holds some of my most special memories too. I just love that time of year.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I haven't been by sooner to thank you for your prayers and understanding words. It has been difficult watching Neil suffer in fear of losing his Mother. Tonights not such a good night and my heart breaks for him.
Thank you dear sweet friend for caring enough to pray and to let me know that we're not alone.
Hugs and love...Tracy :)

ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you for your kind and encouraging comments on my recent posts about surrendering my desire for another child. It has been a difficult decade for me...surrendering that desire...but praise God for the ability to finally do so. And by surrendering, I truly feel as if I have been born again...again. Thank you for sharing with me that you can relate to my paind due to the loss of your little boy.
Love,
Patti
