Just down around that corner near Miss Maggie's home we unexpectedly came across this precious wee church ... I screamed 'STOP'!
There was a whole line of cars behind us so Harold pulled over ... all the cars proceeded to pull into the church parking lot.
I ran across the road & asked what they were doing ... they were getting ready for Mass, held once a month.
Kindly they opened the doors for me to peek in before Mass started. As I was leaving the priest arrived ... we were invited to join them but Miss Maggie had lunch on the table waiting for us to arrive, so we had to pass.
I thanked them, told them I was Catholic & had never heard of the church before.
This church is absolutely beautiful ... it probably holds 30
sitting.
It is located east of Round Top.
Thank you Charlotte & Ginger for hostessing Spiritual Sundays. Please join our other lovely ladies @ http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/)
The church is just beautiful Marydon, and how wonderful that you were able to go in. beauty in the smallest of places! God Bless you this Sunday morning, Hugs, Marilou
ReplyDeleteMarydon- What a sweet little place to worship. It is unfortunate that a priest can only come once a month. It was like this down south in Miss. where my SIL, Sister Pat, ministered to the community. She did everything BUT celebrate mass.

That is lovely. I'm Catholic and St Timothy's gift shop is bigger than that dear, sweet little church. It really was very inspiring and reminded me that God is everywhere, in the largest churches and in the smallest. Have a blessed Sunday.

Looks like a little dollhouse church. You sure would do penance sitting on those benches. Is cute an appropriate word for it I wonder.

What a beautiful little church! How neat that you just happened to come across it!
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cool! Here in Upstate New York, we have a tiny church that holds (I think) no more than four people inside at once! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful church, like a doll house! I love that it is still in use.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog today!
-Mary
I would have stopped also. Most any small church grabs my attention. For a while I took pictures of the small churches I came across, and then after I had taken a couple of dozen across a few states I realized that my references were lousy and I could not tell you what picture was what church. I hope I learned my lesson. I enjoyed your pictures of this precious little church.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure to find this little chapel. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious church this is.I'm so glad you shared this.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Ginger

What a HUGE beautiful place in such a small setting. sandie
ReplyDeleteMarydon, I came upon your blog when I checked Grandma Yellow Hair's blog after she joined my followers. I must say that I enjoyed Maggie's post today. She mentioned your blog ,I made a Google search and found you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming little church. I'm so glad that you shared your pictures. I'm a Catholic and we always stop at Catholic churches when visiting places. I saw a small chapel dedicated to St Francis of Assisi at Skiff Lake in Canteburry, New Brubswick, Canada. There is an annual pilgrimage in August and they have an outdoor mass and have around 300 people attend mass and they come from far and wide. JB

What a little jewel box of a church! What a treat for you to discover!
