This is dedicated to all the men that gave their
lives so selflessly for our freedoms. Never forgotten.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. May the
flag forever fly free, because of you each. To those that
have gone before us, rest in peace.
This WW II letter dated 1943 was found recently in our papers as we are completing the family genealogy. I was so thrilled because the stationary is fabulous in the old Red, White & Blue.
(** Wait until you see who I am going to see ... y'all)
One of our unknown Civil War veterans ... it is a Yankee, so it must be from MY side of the family, as Harold guarantees me it isn't from his, chuckle!
Wonderful photos you have shared Marydon. My heartfelt thanks to all who have served and continue to do so.
ReplyDeleteOh....I just loved those pictures. I had an uncle that died in WWII, a father that served in the US ARMY and a father in law that served in the US Army...and now I have two sons serving.....as you know, it is not easy but I am grateful for the freedom I enjoy and hope to continue to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteOff to the Veteran's Day Parade in just a couple of hours here!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful post, Marydon.
ReplyDeleteTo our veterans - THANKS FOR SERVING!
It can never be said enough. I now regret voting for Carter in his first election, he's the one who dismantled the draft...that noble institution that made men out of boys.
Don and I so appreciate their service. I wish I had memorabilia of my families history but my mom lost it all many years ago. Such a lovely post.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures of all of those handsome Veterans! I am so thankful that we have the freedom and I know WHO to thank! Have a blessed day my dear friend! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteMarydon,
ReplyDeleteThanks to all of these brave young men for there service and for all they have done for us! Freedom is never free.

I love the pictures of the family members. I had one Union family member a great great grandfather on my grandfather's side from Tn. all of the others from Tn were confederate. I have a proud photo of him in his uniform.
ReplyDeleteI would like to thank you and your family for defending our country and keeping us safe. Bless your men who answered the call and for you, a mom, who worried and prayed for her boy.
ReplyDeleteHugs- Tete
What wonderful pics...We really need to remember all the vets who served.

Wonderful pictures you have shared and to find the letter. I know how thrilled you must be. We too celebrate this day and our Flag is flying high. Hubby is a Veteran.

I like seeing the old pictures and learning of your family's service through the generations. My dad was a WWII pilot and later served in Vietman. We owe a debt of gratitude to all who serve our country, especially in war time.
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed! Thank you to all who have served.
ReplyDeleteLook at all those handsome Vets! :)
ReplyDeleteService runs deep in our family too. My generation is the only one that hasn't served.... And I'm kind of sad about that!
