Now I lay me down to rest
Upon this earths gentle breast
Beneath the warmth of fallen leaves
The gentle snows to nourish me
For beauty forth shall I bring
In the warmth of dew kissed spring.

Every year I take my my geraniums, pot them & put them in the garage where Harold installed a lighting system. I can't bear to throw away any plant I can save ...
so this year I thought
I'd give the hanging baskets a whirl & see if they endure ...
holding over ...
anyone tried to hold petunias over?
the geraniums I love most ...
are my pinks & ...
shrimp/salmon colored ones ...
& I fondly remember the beauty of summer now past ...
little Miss Primrose is taking her last peek ...
as autumn peaks around the corner to greet us ...
we had this new interesting visitor amongst the florals this year ...
all the new grasses we put in came thru beautifully surrounded by the red of the dogwood leaves ...
Frisky greets us every morning to make SURE we've filled the bird feeders ...
the dew kissed morns are no more ...
frosty has had his nip ...
the dogwood seeds nestle in for the winter ...
the morning 'bird clatch' have their daily gathering for a community bath & lots of chatter ...
the colorful leaves blow & whirl gently in the breeze ...
Saturday we will post our giveaways ... they will take place for (4) weeks, ending on Tuedays so you will have your gifts before Christmas. With each gift you will receive a 'surprise' gift ...
Pink Saturday will be our first post ... pop by for a peek. All you have to do is leave a comment, no other unnecessary requirements needed.
Have a beautiful autumn day.
Lovely reminder of what we just left behind. Good luck on the petunias. I would think if you pinched them back to 3 inches, you might stand a chance.

Your photos are so very pretty Marydon. I wish you much success with the lovely petunias.
ReplyDeleteHi MaryDon.My visit here this morning was a lovely one.I adored the little writing of yours at the beginning.I hope you have luck with your flowers over the winter months,me I can never keep a geranium alive, lol. Its the only plant I seem to kill very easy with to much water.Petunias are great so lovelty danity.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!
Oh, I am so ready for the winter, my favorite time of the year. I love everything about it.:)
ReplyDeleteI bring my geraniums inside every year, put them in a south window, feed them regularly and they bloom all winter long. Amazing, hu? I didn't know they would do that until last year. Like you, I HATE throwing away plants.
Good luck with the petunias...bet they will do fine.
I brought my boston fern in a couple weeks ago. It is losing leaves but that's to be expected. The net said not to fertalize them the winter so I just water and mist it and also have it in a south window. We'll see how it does.

You are more brave than I am Marydon! I don't winter over ANY FLOWERS or plants. I should try, but I just give them the heave ho! ha!
ReplyDeleteThat fungus thing is very interesting! rofl
Happy day!
Hugs~
Gorgeous pictures dear Marydon! My Hubby keeps as many plants as possible too during the cold winter months! They stay in our garage and it looks kinda like a jungle out there but in the Spring... it is all worth it.
ReplyDeleteI have not tried to keep petunias during the winter but most everything else:)
Have a blessed day where you are! HUGS!
Lovely poem, Marydon. I enjoyed seeing all your pretty flower photos too. I love the way that very last photo is framed. :)
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Sweet Sis...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful share this morning. I love coming home for my visits. I can see you sitting at the computer with your morning tea watching the squirrel sneak into the feeder and the birds take their morning baths. Such a beautiful view out that window.
I remember seeing all the beautiful flowers in the garage while I visited last. They were waiting on their grand debute. I have petunias year round out here in the desert, and believe it or not I even have asparagus fern in my garden around my fountain. I keep it trimmed more like a hedge. It still berries out too.
I pray you are feeling better this morning. A slow gently healing for you sweet one. Yes slow and gentle.
Have a gorgeous day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I love you and MISS you so much.
All my love, your lil sis, Sherry
Wonderful poem Marydon. I think it's wonderful that you try to hold the plants over-I always hate to throw them out-wish I had a place to put them. They remind us in a long winter -of spring to come! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning...Lovely post today. I do believe that petunias will winter over in the house, you just need to cut them back a bit when you bring them in. Hope you are feeling better a little more everyday.
ReplyDeleteI believe you are to cut the petunias back....good luck!
ReplyDeleteHi Marydon, this is such a beautiful post. great pics and beautiful poem too.. thank you!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Ruth
Beautiful poem Marydon.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the petunias. I'll be sure to wait to hear the results come springtime.
I bring in my geraniums and my herbs. They look so nice in my big window all winter. Sometimes I hate to put them outside in spring, they just look so comfy there. LOL

I always hate to kill plants too but I would have a jungle in my house if I brought them all in...and in ND no greenhouse can function so every year I have to pull them up. I have overwintered the geranium but not the others. looking forward to how they do!
ReplyDeleteMarydon, your poem is beautiful! I thought for sure I was reading the thoughts of some classic poet. I will have to bring my houseplants in this weekend as they are calling for frost Sat. night but I'll probably just Mother Nature take what she wants of the flowers.
ReplyDeleteMarydon I don't blame you I would try saving those lovely plants too.
ReplyDeleteI found some four legged creatures in some of my plants I moved in day before yesterday. Now I am freaking out because I only like me and Tinkerbell living inside. lol
Hope you have a wonderful weekend my friend
Love ya
Maggie
Hi Marydon, YOu have a Greenhouse Garage, don't you???? My potted plants and hanging baskets came inside... I have a place in the dining room next to the sliding glass door for them.. Hopefully, they'll like it--since I don't have a greenhouse. (I kept them in the garage last year--and most didn't make it --since there is no heat in there..)
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are gorgeous... Hope you enjoy all of them all winter.
Is it cold up there today? We are very cold here in TN...
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
You definitely have a green thumb!!! Beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteYou're the flower lady! sandie
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely post! Beautiful pictures! I always take my geraniums, asparagus fern and Moses in the Basket and put them in the bike shed to winter over. I just give them a little drink when the soil gets dry and every year they survive. My Christmas Cactus is blooming already! Just one always blooms in time for Thanksgiving! We are supposed to go down to 32 tonight, that is way too fallish now-ha! Luvu, Kerrie
ReplyDeleteYou have such a wonderful flair with flowers. Good luck with them. we kept a pointsetta at work form last Christmas.Never putting it in the dark like you should. But it still has red leaves and beautiful green leaves.Hugs Anne
ReplyDeleteMy geraniums do well in my sun room to bloom again on our porch in the late spring, but I have never tried our hanging baskets. Thanks, I just might try this year. BTW, my primroses have begun blooming again, must be due to the unseasonable warm fall we are having.
ReplyDeleteHolding over hanging baskets! This will be an interesting experiment. :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish you lots of luck keeping all your flowers alive, Marydon. It will be all I can do to keep two ferns alive over the winter. LOL- I definitely have a brown thumb.
ReplyDeleteHow are you feeling? I have been thinking about you....
ReplyDeleteSweet little teapot...and such a nice giveaway...
Have a great week!
